Manjushri

Wisdom becomes a light that illuminates all.
Manjushri is worshipped since ancient times as the Bodhisattva who governs wisdom.

With a sword of wisdom in the right hand to cut through worldly desires and confusion, and holding a lotus flower containing scriptures that explain the truth in the left, this figure symbolizes not just knowledge, but the "wisdom" needed to walk the right path in life.

In this work, the sacred lion upon which Manjushri rides is portrayed with great power. The lion represents courage and majesty, while also expressing that wisdom is the strength to overcome all fear and hesitation.

Behind the figure, a lotus arabesque mandorla featuring the Seven Buddhas is boldly composed. The world of infinite wisdom is depicted by fusing the decorative quality of traditional Japanese painting with modern design.

The sea of clouds enveloping the feet represents a state of serenity beyond the mundane world, creating a piece where dignity and dynamism coexist.

The colored version expresses the mercy, wisdom, and purity of Manjushri through a golden mandorla and soft hues.
The deep blue of the lion and the radiant red solar disc tighten the composition, resulting in a piece that feels both tranquil and imbued with powerful vitality.

Wisdom is:
A power to cut through confusion,
Surpass fear,
And guide oneself.

May you be guided by Manjushri.
