Monju Bosatsu L/S #2 [WHITE]

Manjushri

Wisdom is the light that illuminates all things.
Manjushri has long been worshipped as the Bodhisattva who governs wisdom.

Holding a sword of wisdom in his right hand to cut through worldly desires and delusions, and a lotus flower topped with scriptures of truth in his left, his figure symbolizes not merely knowledge, but the "wisdom" required to navigate life correctly.

In this piece, the guardian lion that Manjushri rides is depicted with great power. The lion represents courage and majesty, while also expressing that wisdom is the strength to overcome all fears and uncertainties.

The backdrop features a bold, lotus-arabesque mandorla adorned with the Seven Buddhas. It depicts a world of infinite wisdom, blending the decorative qualities of Japanese painting with contemporary design.

The sea of clouds enveloping the base represents a state of serenity beyond the secular world, resulting in a work where dignity and dynamism coexist within a single composition.

The color version uses a golden mandorla and soft hues to express the compassion, wisdom, and purity embodied by Manjushri. The deep blue of the lion and the radiant red sun sharpen the overall composition, creating a piece that exudes a powerful life force even amidst its stillness.

Wisdom is:
A power to sever doubt,
Transcend fear,
And guide oneself.

May you be guided by Manjushri.
