Monju Bodhisattva has long been revered as the Bodhisattva of Wisdom.

With a sword of wisdom in his right hand, cutting through worldly desires and delusions, and a lotus flower holding scriptures that preach the truth in his left, his form symbolizes not just knowledge but "wisdom" to guide one through life righteously.

In this work, the divine beast, the lion, on which Monju Bodhisattva rides, is powerfully depicted. The lion represents courage and dignity, while also expressing the power of wisdom to overcome all fears and delusions.

Behind him, a halo of lotus arabesque with seven Buddhas is boldly composed. The eternally expanding world of wisdom is depicted through a fusion of Japanese painting's decorativeness and modern design.

The sea of clouds embracing his feet represents a tranquil state beyond the mundane world, creating a piece where dignity and dynamism coexist.

In the colored version, the golden halo and soft coloring express Monju Bodhisattva's compassion, wisdom, and pure essence. The deep blue of the lion and the radiant red sun disk tighten the overall composition, making it a piece that conveys powerful vitality amidst tranquility.
