Tsukuyomi no Kaguya-hime ― KAGUYA / THE SILENT MOON

Kaguya-hime, depicted in Japan's oldest story, "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter," and Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto, revered since ancient times as the deity governing the moon. "Tsukuyomi no Kaguya-hime" reinterprets these two entities through the shared symbol of the "moon," presented within the unique worldview of SOW INOUE.

The copper moon floating in the background symbolizes the boundary between the two worlds: the earth and the moon. The golden dragon clouds arranged at the feet of the princess, clad in her twelve-layered ceremonial kimono, represent her presence as a celestial being.

The centerpiece of this artwork is the "Earth," which the princess holds dearly in both hands. Her posture embodies her destiny to return to the moon alongside her feelings for the people on Earth—capturing a love and memories that remain undiminished even across the vast distance.

The front features the text "KAGUYA / THE SILENT MOON" placed simply and quietly, designed to balance the impact of the back. This is another story of "Kaguya-hime," yearning for Earth from the moon.
