Monju Bosatsu (Manjushri Bodhisattva) has been revered since ancient times as the Bodhisattva who embodies wisdom.

In his right hand, he carries the Sword of Wisdom, which severs worldly desires and delusions. In his left hand, he holds a lotus flower containing a sutra that expounds the truth. This depiction symbolizes not just knowledge, but the "wisdom" to lead a righteous life.
