Monju Bosatsu L/S #2 [BLACK]

Manjushri

Wisdom serves as a light that illuminates all things.
Manjushri has long been worshipped as the Bodhisattva who presides over wisdom.

With a sword of wisdom in his right hand to cut through worldly desires and delusions, and a lotus flower in his left holding the scriptures that expound the truth, his form symbolizes not just knowledge, but the "wisdom" needed to navigate life correctly.

In this work, the lion—a sacred beast ridden by Manjushri—is depicted with great power. The lion represents courage and dignity, while simultaneously expressing that wisdom is the strength to overcome all fear and hesitation.

Behind him, a lotus-arabesque mandorla featuring the seven Buddhas is boldly composed. The world of wisdom, extending into eternity, is depicted through a fusion of the decorative style of Japanese painting and contemporary design.

The sea of clouds enveloping his feet represents a state of serenity transcending the mundane world, resulting in a piece where dignity and dynamism coexist.

The colored version uses a golden mandorla and soft hues to express the compassion, wisdom, and purity of Manjushri.
The deep blue of the lion and the radiant red sun sharpen the entire composition, creating a piece that conveys powerful vitality within tranquility.

Wisdom is:
The power to sever delusion,
To overcome fear,
And to guide oneself.

May you be guided by Manjushri.
